Background
Working with regeneration specialist Generator South West, Abri are bringing 36 affordable homes to Bristol. The Chocolate Factory will see 140 new homes brought to the market, with Abri offering 15 one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom apartments on Shared Ownership.
The Chocolate Factory development has received grant funding from Homes England, to help provide more affordable homes to the fast-growing city. This new development will also provide services for the local community, including a dedicated community hub, starter units for businesses and a café/bar. The site is located just 10 minutes’ cycle from the centre of Bristol, so future residents will have a fantastic range of facilities on their doorstep.
“Bristol is an expanding city and the need to provide more homes is so important. It’s great to be working in partnership with Generator South West and Homes England to help ease this pressure for affordable homes by transforming a site that’s stood derelict for many years.
“The former chocolate factory was such an influential building and an iconic feature of the community. To help ease this transition and keep part of the industrial heritage, some of the original factory buildings are being retained which will bring the area back to life as well as increasing home ownership for people.”
Stephen Lodge, Executive Director of Development and Strategic Asset Management for Abri.
