We’re committed to ensuring everyone has access to a safe and stable home. Building vibrant communities starts by providing our customers and communities with the security they need to thrive.
Supported Housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head—it’s about delivering personalised support to help people overcome obstacles, regain independence, and lead fulfilling lives. Whether it’s supporting individuals with disabilities to live on their own or offering refuge for those experiencing homelessness, Supported Housing can be a lifeline.
Abri’s Partnership Living and Independent Living teams support more than 4,000 individuals across various accommodations, from residential care homes to single flats. We're committed to ensuring their safety and wellbeing with the help of our dedicated Community Wellbeing Coordinators.
Today, we’re sharing an inspiring story from our community that truly shows the difference Supported Housing can make.
Mr B’s Story
Everyone should have somewhere safe and secure to call home. However, we know this isn’t always the case and many find themselves homeless. This was unfortunately true for one of our customers.
For over six months, Mr B was homeless, going from hotel to hotel, until he was offered an Abri property.
Although this was a huge step in getting his life back on track, with little to no money and not much of an income, Mr B had no way of making the house a home.
During the initial sign-up stage, it became clear that he needed support. Having made a referral to the Housing Support team, we got to work and were able to set him up with a cooker, bed, table and chairs, fridge freezer and kitchen items.
With his state pensions his only income, the team also helped Mr B apply for housing and council tax benefits, as well as pension credit boost.
The team also helped him to change his address at the bank and register with the local GP surgery.
Mr B has already made friends with his neighbours and is starting to become involved with the local community. He told us that he is very grateful for the support he has received. He now feels safe and secure in his home and knows he has people he can reach out to if he needs help.
