Alex Maltby from Homes England, visited Abri’s Brue Farm development to see the progress of 123 new homes being built entirely using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
Built on land provided by Homes England, Brue Farm is situated in Highbridge and all of the 123 homes are being made affordable, with 63 homes available for Shared Ownership and 60 for affordable rent.
Alex Maltby from Homes England came to view the progress as 34 homes have already been built using a modular system incorporating precision engineering that is better for the environment as there is less material waste. Entire sections of the home are prebuilt in a factory and then delivered to the site ready to be placed on the foundations.
Stephen Lodge, Executive Director of Development and Strategic Asset Management at Abri said: “Working with Homes England and our partners it’s great to see the progress being made here to accelerate the number of affordable homes that are essential for the community.
“We’re committed to building at least 1,500 new homes a year by 2030 and 25% of these will be built using MMC. As a recent strategic partner of Homes England, we’ll continue to work together to build more homes like these that are a great example of quality and sustainability.”
Alex Maltby, Head of Partnerships at Homes England said: “Adopting Modern Methods of Construction is so important if we’re to meet the demand for new homes across the country.
“We’re committed to support the creation of new homes at pace, working with our partners to help build in areas of greatest need. It’s great to see MMC being used at Brue Farm to provide affordable homes so quickly and to a really high standard throughout.”
The homes have been possible thanks to a collaboration between Abri, Homes England, Keepmoat and ilke Homes who have built the homes at their 250,000 sq ft factory in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire before being delivered to Brue Farm. The homes for sale through Shared Ownership are available through Abri’s new sales website, Abri Homes: www.abrihomes.co.uk
