Representatives from Fareham Borough Council came to the see the progress of 48 new affordable homes being built on Seafield Road in Portchester.
Councillor Connie Hockley, Executive Member for Housing, and Robyn Lyons, Head of Housing Delivery from Fareham Borough Council visited the development which will deliver much needed affordable homes for the area.
The homes are being delivered by Abri, one of the south’s largest housing providers with construction being undertaken by Hampshire Homes. Of the 48 homes, 13 homes will be affordable rent and 35 homes will be available to buy through shared ownership.
Councillor Connie Hockley at Fareham Borough Council said: “I’m delighted to see these affordable homes progressing which will help more people onto the housing ladder. The need for affordable housing in Fareham is even more apparent particularly with the increased cost of living and we look forward to seeing the homes again when they’re finished.
“We want to support the development of affordable homes as we know how important they are in meeting local needs. To continue to deliver more homes we want to facilitate more successful partnerships so there are good quality, affordable homes where they’re needed most.”
Stephen Lodge, Executive Director Development and Strategic Asset Management at Abri said: “It was a pleasure to meet with members of Fareham Borough Council and it’s really satisfying to see the progress being made on site, knowing we’re another step closer to delivering high quality homes for the benefit of the community.
“Abri is committed to building 12,500 new homes by 2030 and we know how important affordable homes are in meeting local needs. Seafield Road is an ideal location near waterfront leisure activities; we look forward to seeing the homes coming to life and welcoming residents to their new homes.”

With the pressures of the cost of living the homes couldn’t come at a better time and we will continue to push forward and provide an excellent development to live in.”
The new development has received grant funding from Homes England to help build the two, three and four-bedroom houses which are expected to be completed by spring 2024.
