The provision of new affordable homes is set to increase in Eastleigh with the addition of 102 new homes across two new developments.
Abri, one of the south’s largest housing providers, will be delivering the new homes in partnership with housebuilder, Vistry. 67 new homes will soon start to be built at Boorley Gateway near Botley, which will feature a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses. The development has received grant funding from Homes England to help make all the homes affordable, which will include 36 homes for social rent and 31 for sale through shared ownership. In addition, the development will have space for a convenience store and a multipurpose centre to help support the local community.
At Allington Lane in Eastleigh, Abri is also working with Vistry to build 35 new homes at the former Treetops Nursery. With the help of grant funding from Homes England the development will be fully affordable, an increase on the previous allocation of 35 per cent affordable homes planned for the scheme. The homes will be a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, with 17 homes for affordable rent and 18 for shared ownership.
Steve Taylor Head of Land and Planning at Abri said:
“Abri is committed to helping the communities where we work and across these developments we’ll be providing good quality and much-needed affordable housing for the borough. Affordability is such a key issue now, particularly with the increased cost of living and so it’s great to be making all of these 102 new homes affordable.
“We’re delighted to be continuing our successful working relationship with Vistry and look forward to welcoming new residents when the homes are complete.”
Eastleigh Borough Council Leader, Cllr Keith House, commented “It is good to see Abri building much needed affordable homes for rent and shared ownership to help tackle the housing crisis we have across the country. These will be homes for local people and really meet the housing needs of our future residents.”
The homes at Boorley Gateway and Allington Lane are expected to be built by 2025.
